Hello,
My name is Lars Gehrlein. I am a people, portrait and travel photographer.
I have been photographing since I was a teenager, but my passion for the subject was permanently sparked in 2012.
I love photographing people and working with them to find out how they want to be or how they want to present themselves in front of the camera – an experience that, despite all the selfies with mobile phones, is still somewhat intimidating for people in front of the camera.
Travelling is a learning experience for me. I try to capture the actual picture of my destination with my camera. Pictures that can’t be found in typical travel magazines, but show a more realistic and lively picture of it. Most of the time my original image of the place is dissolved and replaced by a new feeling for the place and the people there.
Coming from the Palatinate, I mainly live and work in Cologne today.

mein Name ist Lars Gehrlein. Ich bin ein People-, Porträt- und Reisefotograf. Ich fotografiere seit meiner Teenagerzeit, aber meine Leidenschaft für das Thema wurde 2012 dauerhaft geweckt.
Ich liebe es, Menschen zu fotografieren und gemeinsam mit ihnen herauszufinden, wie sie sein oder wie sie sich vor der Kamera geben wollen – eine Erfahrung, die trotz aller Selfies mit Mobiltelefonen für die Menschen vor der Kamera immer noch etwas einschüchternd ist.
Reisen ist für mich eine Lernerfahrung. Ich versuche, das tatsächliche Bild meines Reiseziels mit meiner Kamera einzufangen. Bilder, die nicht in den typischen Reisemagazinen zu finden sind, aber ein etwas realistischeres und lebendigeres Bild davon zeigen. Meistens wird mein ursprüngliches Bild des Ortes dabei zunächst aufgelöst und durch ein neues Gefühl für den Ort und die Menschen dort ersetzt.
Aus der Pfalz kommend, lebe und arbeite ich heute hauptsächlich in Köln.
